Exciting news from The Club at Olde Cypress.

We are thrilled to announce that our very own 1st Assistant Golf Professional, Drew Dietter, has officially qualified to compete in the 2025 PGA Professional National Championship taking place April 27–30, 2025. Adding to the excitement, Drew's caddy for this prestigious event will be none other than Olde Cypress Member and 2025 Club Champion, Kyle Tyll. We couldn't be prouder to see two familiar faces representing Olde Cypress on a national stage!

Drew recently took time to share his inspiring journey with us, and after reading it, you'll understand why so many of us at the club are rooting for him even more.
From Kazakhstan to the Golf Course: Drew's Unique Journey
Drew's story begins halfway around the world in Taraz, Kazakhstan. Placed in an orphanage at a young age, his life changed dramatically when he and his sister were adopted at the age of two. After living in several places—including San Diego and Maine—his family eventually settled in Naples, Florida. It was here, during middle school, that Drew was (somewhat accidentally) introduced to the game of golf when his mother enrolled him in what he thought was a simple "golf clinic," but turned out to be the middle school golf team.
What started as reluctant participation blossomed into a passion that would shape his life. Though he temporarily traded golf for football during high school, Drew eventually realized that his true calling was back on the course. He shifted his academic path from biological engineering to professional golf management, enrolling at Florida Gulf Coast University. There, Drew not only found his career path but also met his future wife, Chelsea, through what was supposed to be a casual golf lesson that turned into a lifelong partnership.

A Career Defined by Passion and Community

Since joining the professional golf ranks in 2024, Drew has poured his heart into the game. His mentors—Joe Conforti, Gary Shea, Aaron Karr, Evan Jones, and Kyle Gailoretto—have all left lasting marks on his development. One of Drew's proudest accomplishments so far has been organizing a high-performance invitational tournament that elevated the playing experience for everyone involved, combining challenging course setups, professional touches, and a sense of community.
His love for golf isn't just about the competition; it's about creating moments. One of Drew's favorite memories is from a casual round with Chelsea at Olde Cypress. After holing out for birdie on our signature island green 12th hole, the simple joy of ringing the bell with his wife created a memory he says he'll never forget.

Looking Ahead

When asked who he would most like to meet if he advances to the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, Drew named Bryson DeChambeau. (hyperlink) "The one player who I would most want to meet would be Bryson DeChambeau. With all that is going on in the televised golf and how golf is perceived, I believe regardless on your stance on LIV or the PGA Tour Bryson is going what is better for the game of golf. He makes it more fun to watch and inspire more ways to play the game with his odd formats. I think he a interesting guy who enjoys the game of golf regardless on who is hosting or where it is taking place." -D.Dietter
