Take Good Care

The word self-care may bring to mind bubble baths, hot tea, and face masks – all wonderful and well-deserved! But it can also mean much more, especially around the busy winter holidays when schedules get full and family time can take a lot of energy. To keep you feeling your most gleeful (and not grinchy!), we at The Club at Olde Cypress gathered some ideas to help you take good care of yourself.

Getting Grounded With Yoga

If a round of golf is tough to squeeze in on a busy day, you might consider a quicker yoga class (or even some quiet stretching at home!). "Physical activity is a great stress reliever" according to a Calm blog post. Olde Cypress members can find their own calm with Yoga for Golf & Tennis on Tuesdays and Thursdays or greet the day with Rise & Shine Yoga on Saturdays.

Staying Connected

Even amid the hustle and bustle of the holidays, many of us can feel isolated or lonely at times. It can be a joy to connect authentically with friends and loved ones – both to check in on their well-being and to feel supported by those who truly see you. There are so many ways to stay connected at The Club; this could be your sign to join in the festivities[1] ! "Being intentional about your need for connection can help you get through the holiday season." (CNET)

Keeping The "Me" In "Merry"

'Tis the season for giving and generosity. And that should include yourself! It is never selfish to take the "me" time you need to feel refreshed and restored enough to take part in all of the jolliness that the coming months bring. The smart folks at Harvard Health Blog impart "self-care strategies for this holiday season" that stand the test of time.

Cultivating An Attitude of Gratitude

Hopefully we all have plenty to be grateful for as the year comes to a close. Even if things haven't gone as planned or envisioned, "it's important to remember that gratitude is not just about the big things that happen in our lives, but also about the small, seemingly ordinary things." (Forbes) You might try listing a few things you are grateful for as you sip your coffee or jotting them down in a journal before bed. "When we truly feel gratitude for something it warms our heart and puts us in a very different space emotionally" and we could probably all use more of that.

All else aside, simply starting the day with a clubhouse sunrise, or ending it with a Naples sunset might be just the thing to kickstart your self-care practice.🌞
